Promised Land 2012

Promised Land (2012) สวรรค์แห่งนี้ไม่สิ้นหวัง

Promised Land Steve Butler has caught the attention of the top management at his employer, Global Crosspower Solutions, an energy company that specializes in obtaining natural gas that is trapped underground using a method known as fracking. Butler has a great track record of quickly and cheaply persuading landowners to agree to mineral rights leases that grant drilling rights over to his employer. Butler as well as Sue Thomason, his partner arrived in a Pennsylvania farming community that is struggling economically. The residents are proud of having farms owned by family members that have been handed down through the generations. Promised Land HD

Coming from a town and a life very similar to that of the people he is now determined to win over on behalf of Global, Butler tells the story of how his own town died after the local title=”Caterpillar, Inc.”>Caterpillar assembly plant closed. He doesn’t believe that a town will be sustained solely by its family farms, which have been passed down through generations. He claims he’s giving the town one last chance. Butler enjoys some time after hours with Alice an instructor who he met in a bar.

The local community appears willing to accept Global’s offer, until an elderly local science teacher at the high school, Frank Yates, who happened to be a highly successful engineer in his working life and asks about the safety of fracking at an open town hall. It’s decided that the people will decide in the next few weeks whether or not to take the offer. Following the announcement of the vote, Dustin Noble, an unknown environmentalist, launches a grassroots campaign against Global inspired by the tale of his family losing its Nebraska dairy farm after the herd died as a result of Global’s fracking method, which is industry standard.

Butler is starting to face resistance from the town. Alice appears to be the only one who is able to accept Noble’s proposal. Global distributes to Butler an email that includes an enlarged version of Noble’s photo of dead cattle in a Nebraska field. An object that was thought to be a silo, turns into the lighthouse. The lighthouses aren’t located in Nebraska. This reveals that Noble has deceived people. The picture was actually taken in Lafayette, Louisiana, in Louisiana, where Global is currently in the midst of a legal battle regarding environmental issues likely caused due to their Fracking practices.

Butler informs the mayor about the deceit. He then informs all the citizens. He returns to the hotel only to see Noble taking his truck out, preparing to leave town. Noble stumbles upon the fact that he had seen the Lafayette photo of the lighthouse. Butler is aware that the only way Noble could have learned this information is that he was employed by Global as Noble’s task was to discredit the environmental movement and persuade the town to vote in favor of Global’s proposition. Noble organized for Butler to receive the “confidential images” and coordinated the whole public relations efforts.

The residents will be able to vote on Global’s plans to purchase drilling rights on their property during an open town meeting on the next day. Butler talks to them about how the barn in the picture is reminiscent of the barn of his father. Global has employed Noble to manipulate them. Butler leaves the meeting to find Thomason calling with Global. She tells him he’s fired and that she is departing for New York. Butler arrives at Alice’s house and is welcomed into the house.
